Day 1 Benvenuti a Roma
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 Imperial Rome
Breakfast. Morning private guided walking tour of the Eternal City including the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona with its beautiful neoclassical architecture. Free time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight.
Day 3 Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel
Breakfast. Discover one of the most beautiful sites in the world on the private guided tour of the Vatican Museums, St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. Free time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure to pursue your own passions. Overnight.
Day 4 Delicious Naples
Breakfast. Departure to Naples, one of Italy’s epicurean heavyweights serving up the country’s best pizza, pasta and coffee. In the afternoon private guided walking tour of Spaccanapoli, main street of Naples where you will admire the cities highlights. Overnight.
Day 5 Immortalized Pompeii and on to Sorrento
Breakfast and departure for your next destination: Sorrento, sitting on a cliff, with gorgeous views of the Bay of Naples and, on clear days, Capri. En route stop for a guided visit to the ancient city of Pompeii, frozen in time after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 immortalized the prosperous town for eternity. Then on to Sorrento, check in at the hotel. Enjoy some free time to explore the town’s cobblestone streets, its seafront promenade and have dinner on your own. Overnight.
Day 6 Scenic Capri
Breakfast. Enjoy a wonderful day on the bustling and scenic Island of Capri. Together with your private guide, you will be transferred to the pier where you will board the ferry across the Bay of Naples. Upon arrival at the Marina Grande you will take the Funicular to Capri. In the main square, Piazza Umberto, you’ll find a pretty white church and several open-air cafes where you can sit and watch the world drift by. Leading off the square are medieval looking alleyways and arcades full of shops selling the island’s handicrafts such as clothing, coral and gold jewellery, shoes and ceramics. Admire the colourful gardens of Augustus overlooking the famed Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Piccola. Return to Sorrento by ferry and overnight.
Day 7 Dramatic panoramas on the Amalfi Coast
Breakfast. Today you’ll discover the Amalfi Coast, one of Europe’s most dramatic shorelines. See the brightly coloured houses set on towering cliffs above the sea, and the houses in the town of Amalfi built between the 10th and 13th centuries. Return to Sorrento and overnight.
Day 8 Enter the Renaissance
Breakfast and departure for your next destination: Florence. Arrival, time at leisure and overnight.
Day 9 Florence, cradle of the Renaissance
Breakfast. Pick-up at the hotel by your local guide for a morning walking tour of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Visit the city’s highlights: the Baptistery, Giotto’s bell tower, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore – the Duomo – with its famous dome by Brunelleschi, the picturesque Signoria Square, where you Day take the opportunity to admire statues by Cellini, Giambologna and Ammannati before proceeding to the famous Ponte Vecchio and the Santa Croce Church, containing the tombs of illustrious Florentine citizens such as Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli, as well as fascinating works by Giotto and Donatello. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon visit of the inspiring Uffizi Gallery, originally a suite of offices, which was first used to display the Medici family’s private art treasures in 1581 – thereby making it the oldest art gallery in the world. Its vast collection includes some of the most revered works of the Italian Renaissance, such as Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, Michelangelo’s The Holy Family, da Vinci’s unfinished Adoration of the Magi, Bellini’s Allegory and Raphael’s Madonna of the Goldfinch. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 Hello Piedmont
Breakfast and departure for your next destination in the Monferrato area. Arrival, time at leisure and overnight.
Day 11 Discover wine through history and art
Breakfast. Today is all about wine. Brief visit to the town of Barolo, small in size but big in reputation, the cradle of the famous Barolo wine. Then on to your next experience: a dive into a world of darkness and light, sound and colour, to discover wine through history and art, universal myth and local tradition. Depart to La Morra for a winery visit and lunch. In the afternoon, en route on the way back, visit of a famous Castle and its Enoteca inside the castle itself, a prestigious showcase for the very best Piedmontese wines and grappas. Enjoy a local wine tasting in this beautiful setting. Overnight.
Day 12 Hello Liguria
Breakfast and departure the region of Liguria. Arrival, time at leisure and overnight.
Day 13 Portofino area
Breakfast. Full day at leisure to explore Portofino and S. Margherita Ligure. Overnight.
Day 14 Romantic Lake Como
Breakfast and departure the region of Liguria. Arrival, time at leisure to enjoy the views over the lake and the unique surrounding landscapes. Overnight.
Day 15 Cruise Lake Como
Breakfast. Meet your local guide and board the boat at the city centre and then sit back and relax on a cruise around the breath-taking lake. Admire the splendid lakeside villas and keep an eye out for Villa d’Este at Cernobbio, a luxurious hotel with tropical gardens. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon time at leisure to discover the centre of Como, with its 12th-century city walls, the beautiful people of this prosperous city whisk about from shop to cafe, sweeping by the grandeur of the city’s cathedral, villas and the loveliness of its lakeshore with admirable insouciance. Overnight.
Day 16 Arrivederci Italy
Breakfast. Transfer to Milan airport and end of services.
